     Michael Treleaven PhD


Michael Treleaven, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Political Science, at Gonzaga University.  He received his doctoral degree from the University of Toronto, in 1993.  At Gonzaga University he teaches courses in environmental studies, the welfare state and American political economy, and comparative government courses on Canada and America, the Pacific Northwest, and African politics and development, and state and local government in America.  He joined the GU faculty in 1990.  He is a citizen of Canada.  Favourite economists: Amartya Sen and Thomas Piketty.  Favourite theologians:  Karl Rahner and Johann Baptist Metz.  Favourite philosophers:  Charles Taylor and Ronald S. Beiner.  Favourite literary work: Dante's "Divine Comedy", which is staggering.  Favourite composer: Johann Sebastian Bach, who is supreme.   Favourite course I teach:  "American Social Policy: Health, Education, and Welfare".
