     Richard Paisley


RICHARD KYLE PAISLEY is currently Director of the Global Transboundary International Waters Governance Research Initiative at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Institute of Asian Research, in Vancouver, Canada. 

Richard's academic background includes degrees in biochemistry, natural resources management, law and international law from UBC, the University of Washington, Pepperdine University School of Law and the London School of Economics. He has worked widely throughout Africa, Asia and the Americas for the past three decades and published extensively in the scholarly academic literature.

Richard’s current research, teaching, graduate supervision, and advisory interests, include: international water and energy law, international environmental law, environmental conflict resolution and international business transactions. He has been an advisor, trainer and special counsel on these subjects to national and sub-national governments; international organizations; non-governmental organizations; aboriginal groups; and the private sector. 

Richard is an avid downhill and cross country skier, cycler, backpacker and kayaker.
